This web site provides background on the Theodore Luce Charitable Trust. Established in the 1940s, the Luce Trust supports comprehensive youth development organizations in New York City.

Funding Interests:
The Trust seeks to support programs that assist young people, ages 8-18, in developing competencies that will enable them to grow, develop their skills and become healthy, responsible and caring youth and adults. Of particular interest are programs for low-income youth that operate year-round and address the following: academics, personal and social competence, health and physical well-being, preparation for work, special interests and talents, leadership and citizenship and/or parent involvement. More specifically, the Trust seeks to support youth development organizations in one of two areas – program enhancement or capacity building.

Restrictions:
No grants are made to individuals or for matching gifts or loans.
Eligibility:
Organizations must be classified by the Internal Revenue Service as public charities and tax-exempt under section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986.
Grant Information:
Grants range from $20,000 to $40,000; 25 grants were made during 2007. The 2007 payout was $600,000.
Grant Cycle:
In 2008, proposals will be accepted by invitation only. Invitations will be mailed in February and grants awards will be announced by July 31, 2008.
