About eGrant Reporting
The Foundation Center's eGrant Reporting Program enables grantmakers to submit electronic grants lists to the Foundation Center on a regular basis, expediting their inclusion in Foundation Directory Online (FDO), the nation's most widely used searchable database of U.S. grantmakers and their grants. eGrant reporting is beneficial to grantmakers and to the broader field of philanthropy in:
- making available richer, more descriptive and accurate grants information
- communicating information about a funder's most current grants to thousands of FDO users
- providing greater control over subject, recipient type, and other taxonomy terms that are applied to a funder's grants.
To recognize the participation of eGrant Reporters, we have included a special icon on funder profiles in FDO. In addition, participants in the program will be provided with, on request, a direct link to FDO Professional interactive maps and charts reflecting their foundation's grants activity. These complimentary maps and charts can be used by foundation staff, included in presentations to the foundation's board, or posted on the foundation's intranet or public web site.

How to Become an eGrant Reporter
It's easy to become an electronic grant reporter. All that is required is an electronic file, such as an Excel file, that follows simple guidelines and includes as many fields as a foundation has available that correspond to those listed in our electronic grant reporting standard. Several commercial software vendors also have made it easy to create eGrant lists that use our eGrant reporting standards.

In addition, the following grants management software companies have agreed to participate in our electronic grant reporting partner program:
The Foundation Center's 2008 target for processing and publishing all incoming eGrant Reports is within ten business days of receipt of data files that meet our published standards and formatting. In some cases data may take longer to process if we receive an unusually high volume of submissions at the same time. When published, this data will be searchable in FDO and display in the interactive maps and charts for individual foundations.
